Julie Jade Lai (b. 1998 , Chicago, IL) is a ceramicist and scientist based between Chicago, IL and Portland, OR. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Physics and Astrophysics and her Masters of Information and Data Science, all at the University of California, Berkeley. Her ceramic work has exhibited with the No Vacancy Project and Elle Gallery in Portland, OR.

Julie focuses her practice on high contrast imagery paired with a ceramic body. A composition of red and black linework narrates fragments of her personal life; there is a nod towards her family roots, expressions of violence and recovery, moments of analytical symbolism. Through illustration and vessel, Julie explores the connection between the self and body.
